Italy: Corona test compulsory for travelers from other EU countries - also for vaccinated people

Anyone who comes to Italy from other EU countries now also needs a negative corona test as a vaccinated person.

Italy is tightening the entry rules for visitors from other EU countries.
Even those who have full vaccination protection must show a negative corona test in the future.
With the increasing number of cases of the Omikron variant *, Italy has introduced compulsory corona testing for travelers from other EU countries.
The Ministry of Health has now announced
that anyone coming to Italy must have taken
a negative test
for the virus
before leaving their country of origin

The rule also applies to vaccinated travelers.
A PCR test that is not more than 48 hours old and a rapid antigen test that is not more than 24 hours old are accepted.

Unvaccinated people would have to be quarantined for five days in addition to a test

So far, the so-called green passport was valid for entry, i.e. either a negative test, a vaccination certificate or proof of recovery.
A completed digital immigration form is also required.

The entry ban for certain countries in southern Africa, which the government had imposed in the wake of the widespread Omikron variant, was also extended.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new rules apply from December 16 to January 31.
