A murder ordered by Russia, committed on German soil, in Berlin's Tiergarten park: the life sentence imposed on Wednesday by the German justice on Vadim Krasikov, guilty of having murdered in August 2019, a Chechen opponent under the orders of Moscow, plunges the government of Olaf Scholz into its first bilateral diplomatic crisis.

"This is a serious attack on state sovereignty
," Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said, expelling two Russian diplomats.
This verdict is "political", replied Moscow, which in turn is preparing to remove two German diplomats.
The case comes as the EU is raising the threat of heavy sanctions against Russia, suspected of wanting to invade eastern Ukraine, thereby testing the strength of the new German government against the Kremlin.
