Alec Baldwin cell phone search warrant issued in 'Rust' set shooting investigation

A search warrant for the mobile phone of actor Alec Baldwin was issued this Thursday almost two months after the fatal incident on the set of

Rust

in New Mexico in which the director of photography died and the director of the film was injured, they revealed. court documents.

In an affidavit presented to the Magistrates Court of Santa Fe, New Mexico, authorities required the iPhone "due to conversations between the declarant and Alec Baldwin that took place through 'iMessages.'

Aaron Dyer, Baldwin's civil attorney, said they believe the evidence will show that Baldwin is not civilly or criminally responsible for what happened.

"We proactively request that authorities obtain a court order so that we can take steps to protect Mr. Baldwin's family and personal information that is clearly unrelated to the investigation," Dyer said in a statement.
