Friedrich Merz is to become the new chairman of the CDU - at least if the members of the party have their way.
In a survey, Merz received 62.1 percent of the votes and thus clearly prevailed against his competitors Helge Braun (12.1 percent) and Norbert Röttgen (25.8 percent).
