The Omikron variant is spreading more and more in Europe and the world.
You can find out in which countries the most cases are known so far.
The delta variant of the coronavirus caused a lot of uncertainty among travelers in the summer and led to numerous countries tightening their entry measures.
A similar picture emerges with Omikron * - only that this variant is said to be even more contagious and vaccinated people are more often affected by it.
Some countries have already been classified by the federal government as virus variant areas due to the high proportion of the variant in the infection rate.
In Europe in particular, however, there are many hotspots.
We will show you in which countries the most Omikron cases have currently been counted.

GISAID also shows the
percentage of the Omikron variant
in the reported corona cases in the last four weeks.
Accordingly, with 91.9 percent, it is already the dominant variant in South Africa.
In Norway it is said to be responsible for 24.9 percent of the cases, in Finland for 33.5 percent.
In Germany, on the other hand, according to GISAID data, so far only 0.9 percent of the cases have been due to the Omikron variant.
