The monarch couple has decided to take a photo in nature, following in the footsteps of Prince William (39) and Duchess Kate (39), whose Christmas card is adorned with a holiday photo from Jordan.

The snapshot of King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their two daughters Crown Princess Leonor (16) and Infanta Sofía (14) was apparently taken in the garden of their residence, the Zarzuela Palace near Madrid.

Sofía wears a patterned light blue sweater by Verse, her older sister has opted for a simple beige sweater.

Queen Letizia has also opted for a casual outfit, combining her Mango blazer coat with a white top.

Queen Letizia of Spain: daughter Leonor on a home visit

Spain's royal family has only been complete again for a few days, and the anticipation for Christmas together should be great.

In the middle of the week Letizia was able to hug her eldest daughter Leonor again.

The 16-year-old has returned to her home country for the holidays and, according to media reports, arrived at Madrid airport on Wednesday (December 15).

She has been attending UWC Atlantic College in Wales since the end of August.
