The traditional Christmas concerts of the "Bananafishbones" in the Tölzer Kurhaus are also falling victim to the pandemic this year.

But there is at least one small consolation.

Bad Tölz - That was a lot better than 2020, when it had to be played without an audience.

This time, at least 60 guests were allowed to come to the Bananafishbones' unplugged Christmas concert in the Kurhaus.

And they created a great atmosphere.

Even the otherwise rather reserved Peter Horn (guitar) suddenly turned to the audience: “I don't say much, but it's so nice to be here with you.” You can listen to the whole thing on December 23rd on YouTube.

The resilience of some hall chairs is tested to the limit

For safety reasons, drummer Florian Rein asked to stay seated and wear masks at the beginning.

So the resilience of some hall chairs was tested to the limit.

“We'll knock everything out right away,” announced singer Sebastian Horn at the start, and classics such as “I like a lot”, “Yesterdays” or “Come to sin” could be heard.

And with "Easy day", unlike a year ago, the Fishbones had enthusiastic fans singing along again.

"That makes it all a lot more fun!" Said Horn, visibly pleased.

20 places were raffled

The “cast” audience, as Rein called it, gave everything for the mood.

Some of them were on the guest list, 20 places had been awarded by lottery.

125 listeners would actually have been possible, "but we wanted to play it safe," explained Rein.

There was space for three cameramen and one woman between the audience, who was sitting meters away from the stage, and the stage.

Again and again there were interruptions for the technology.

During one of them, Sebastian Horn asked: "Where has Flori gone now?" He then admitted: "I warned everyone that they had full batteries with them, but I didn't think of mine."

The fans' calls for encores are recorded again separately

The 60 fans gave everything.

Rein liked the unplanned encore calls so much that after the encore he asked the audience to call again for the sound recording.

Tributes to deceased musicians were not on the program this time differently than usual.

The Fishbones had invited a guest for this: Andreas Unterreiner stepped out from behind the curtain with a trumpet to accompany “Honestly”.

What he was capable of, the visitors had already been able to hear during the finger exercises for the soundcheck.

It's a shame that it was only this one quartet appearance.

A fan club had even specially prepared for the song with T-shirts and celebrated it passionately.

The new CD of the "Bananafishbones" will be released on December 20th

The band never let the pandemic get them down. What feelings the BFB fans have in the second Corona year, they revealed in the band survey. They wanted the song "Lost". Other titles also had a therapeutic character, so to speak. Texts like "She said: More and more each day I need you" stand for the longing for security during the inevitable ongoing issues of corona, vaccination and insecurity. It got rockier and louder and got under your skin.

The new CD - last year's concert - will be released on December 20th.

The current Unplugged concert will be on YouTube on December 23 at 8 p.m.

The next live performance is planned for January 2nd at the Volkstheater in Munich.

It's not canceled yet.

In the region, the trio will be on stage on April 2nd in the Miesbacher Waitzingerkeller.

And Florian Rein swore the fans to the Tölzer Festival summer: "See you on August 6th in the Oach!"
