It was a long way: But now the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district council has decided by a majority to significantly improve the ventilation situation for the district's own schools.

Dr.

Sigrid Meierhofer (SPD) initiated the decisive application - and found enough supporters.

Largely

- To speak of winners and losers is actually rather an evil in such a matter. And yet: The many CSU representatives sat with long faces and entered expressions in the hall of the Kreut-Alm above Großweil. It was also noticeably quiet at the administration tables. That late afternoon, Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer (SPD) and Veronika Jones (Greens) feel that with their advances and speeches they managed to get a majority of 26:19 district councilors behind them. It was a partial decision with consequences. Because of this vote "as early as possible", so it says in the wording, not only will all classrooms in the district schools that are poorly ventilated be equipped with mobile air purification devices,Instead, the district administration must also start planning for decentralized ventilation systems "immediately" and, ideally, should implement the measures in 2022.

District administration initially presented other draft resolutions

The administration had recommended part one of this package to the district council at the last meeting of the year. However, further measures should only be taken in the case of future new buildings or renovations of the respective schools - according to the proposal from the district office. A point at which Meierhofer and Jones rebelled even after the lecture by Professor Christian Schwarzbauer, who presented the first results from his ongoing study (we reported). The SPD representative immediately submitted the supplementary application to equip all other rooms with decentralized ventilation in the summer - a total of 187 rooms in the eight facilities of the district are not appropriately equipped.According to Schwarzbauer's report, these systems had the best results because of the air exchange (four or six times an hour). The Murnauer admitted that “perfect window ventilation” could deliver similar results. He pointed out, however, that "for children who sit right by the window, when it is minus ten degrees in winter it is rather a difficult thing". He also praised the decentralized solutions "because, if they are good investments, they are sustainable". When asked by Georg Buchwieser (Greens), Schwarzbauer also stated that they would not be much more expensive than mobile devices due to 80 percent funding from the federal government.at minus ten degrees in winter it is rather a difficult thing ". He also praised the decentralized solutions "because, if they are good investments, they are sustainable". Wild confusion when voting

After a few speeches in different directions, Meierhofer's proposal threatened to disappear somewhere in the darkness of the Kreutalm hall. Because suddenly district architect Alkmar Zenger was standing at the lectern and wanted to vote on the proposal of the administration. That called on Jones, who had studied the lines on the screen carefully. The new building and renovation clause could be seen there again. "Conversely, that means that nothing will happen," she complained. Meierhofer was also there again now. She pounded on the application. So then the vote. 21:16 it was said. "Accepted," mumbled one from the administration. Only: There were some votes missing. "No, no," came the instant from the other corner. “Not everyone voted.” A wild mess. So all over again. And lo and behold:26 votes in favor of Meierhofer's move, 19 against. That's it The following overall decision on both sub-areas was only a formality and even found a few more yes-votes.

How it will continue is currently still open

We can look forward to how things will continue.

There was no talk of sums that afternoon.

The 880,000 euros, which the administration had calculated for a total of three years, in the event that all rooms are equipped with mobile devices, only buzzed around the room briefly at the beginning.

Nobody knows exactly what is in store for the district at the moment.

In any case, it has to start.

Chamberlain Andreas Nebel tried briefly to put a kind of status quo into words.

“We now have to take another look at the rooms to know how many are poorly ventilated.” That is where action should be taken as quickly as possible.

Meierhofer is also surprised how things will continue, but promises to stay on the ball.

“I can't do more than keep asking questions,” said the Garmisch-Partenkirchen native, who teaches at the nursing school herself.

She doesn't really feel like the winner after the successful application.

“It's nice, but nothing more.

We can finally get through the pandemic in schools properly. ”She fears that the Corona issue will not go away that quickly.

"And with every mutation it becomes more difficult."
