The agricultural sector witnessed a rapid return to production after the victory of Aleppo, the defeat of terrorism from the villages and lands of farmers at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army, and the rehabilitation and reform of irrigation systems in agricultural projects in the governorate.

The planned areas for cultivation of irrigated wheat for the current season amounted to 102 thousand hectares, six thousand hectares of rain-fed wheat, 150 thousand hectares of rain-fed barley and one thousand hectares of irrigated barley, in addition to large areas of maize crops and various vegetables, in implementation of the outcomes of the agricultural sector forum held in Aleppo and the adoption of the agricultural plan to maintain the balance Commodity and local market need of products.

Engineer Radwan Harsouni, director of Aleppo Agriculture, said in a statement to SANA reporter that work has been done to secure production requirements of seeds, fertilizers and fuels for farmers, and to adopt sensory detection on agricultural lands to meet their requirements. In parallel with that, extension units in agricultural areas were rehabilitated, and the number of service subjects reached 38 units out of 103 was previously in 2010, but only five units remained in operation before the liberation of Aleppo from the terrorists.

Harsoni explained that all plans related to prevention, production and fruitful planting have been implemented, as the number of areas in which the locust control plans were implemented reached 745 hectares, the control of the sunn pest in 935 hectares, and the field mouse 24 thousand hectares, and work is underway to control the pine attractor in the natural and industrial afforestation areas within the governorate.

As for fruit-bearing plants, two agricultural centers out of six were rehabilitated in Tal Ajar and Hamima.

After the liberation of the western countryside in the governorate, according to Harsoni, all available capabilities were used to rehabilitate the infrastructure of agriculture in it, as three agricultural extension units were restored and rehabilitated to provide advice and agricultural services to farmers and to cultivate the areas designated for the wheat season according to the established plan.

Harsoni said that the Directorate of Agriculture continues to supervise the provision of agricultural grants in cooperation with international organizations related to sheep, home gardens and poultry, to provide them with technical support, and to help the local community improve livelihoods in their areas and lands and achieve stability for them.

SANA’s camera monitored the cultivation and production of fruit seedlings in the agricultural center of the town of Hamima in the eastern countryside of the governorate, where the engineer Muhammad Al-Mohammed, head of the plant production department, explained that the center’s area is 76 hectares and his practical plan is to produce 35,000 seedlings of pomegranate, figs, vine, berries and the Damascene rose, in addition to bringing 22,000 A plantation of citrus and olives to be sold to farmers.

Engineer Muhammad Al-Hamidi, head of the Intimate Agriculture Center, explained that the center’s work is manifested in the production and sale of fruitful plants to farmers, as the sales process begins from December of each year until March, and a project for the production of olive plants in the young mind and a project for grafting the vine through three greenhouses has been established.
