Hospitals in Austria are now using triage, the nursing staff is completely overloaded. How could it possibly come this far?

Austria's health system is on the brink of collapse: the hospitals are full of corona sufferers, some intensive care units have now had to use triage: doctors decide who gets a place and who can no longer be helped.

And all of this while the nursing staff has reached their psychological and physical limit after almost two years of the pandemic.

The fourth wave in autumn 2021 is rapidly developing into a medical nightmare.

In this second episode on the Austrian government failure in the corona crisis, we look at the consequences of the summer's botched vaccination campaign. But it is also about the care emergency that has been smoldering for decades. We are reconstructing how the government and politics continue to lose trust in the corona crisis due to non-transparent countermeasures and false promises. And we report what legal consequences all of this could have.

In the weekly podcast “Inside Austria”, SPIEGEL and “STANDARD” look together at the large and small scandals in Austria.

In the first episodes we examined the network that made Sebastian Kurz great.

But with his political retreat, the Kurz cause is far from over.

Finally, the corruption investigation against him and his party continues.

And whether the Kurz system is actually at its end or will be continued in the future with other people at the top remains to be seen.

In our podcast we continue to follow the investigations surrounding the Austrian government.

In the future, we will reconstruct more cases, scandals and events that move the country.

And inform about an important Austrian topic of the week.

You can also find an overview of all current developments and new revelations in the Kurz affair in our new weekly newsletter “Inside Austria”.
