Duchess Kate speaks in a cover story for the first time about the Sussex exit.

Saying goodbye to Harry and Meghan was very stressful for Kate and William.

London - On the occasion of Duchess Kate's (39) upcoming 40th birthday in early January, the British magazine People dedicated a cover story to her.

For the first time, this also reflects their emotions when the Duke couple of Sussex went it alone and how they dealt with the subsequent attacks on the British royal family from their new adopted home in Montecito.

Kate was "seriously disappointed," says an insider.

Duchess Kate and Prince William (39) would have supported each other in view of the unprecedented situation that the exit of Duchess Meghans (40) and Prince Harrys (37) had put them in front of each other.

The committed senior royal and mother of three found the distance between the royal family and the Sussexes' allegations of abuse and racism during their time as working royals stressful.

Kate was "very, very disappointed with all of this," said an insider in the cover story.

It would have brought her and William closer together.

She would have been so upset about it because William was so upset.

To see her husband so desperate would have been hard on her, they say.

As a reminder: In an interview with Oprah Winfrey (67), the Sussexes reported that there would have been "concerns and discussions about how dark Archie's skin could be" when he was born.

"We are not a racist family," said Prince William indignantly to reporters.

There were many other allegations: Duchess Kate would have made Duchess Meghan cry and the like.

The differences between the brothers have not been resolved to this day, even if there have been occasions such as the joint unveiling of the Diana statue.

The episode during a school visit last month vividly reflects the status: When one of the students asked Kate about Meghan and Harry, she would have responded with the counter question "Is there anything else?"

The fact is, the Duchess of Cambridge has long since earned her spurs.

She replaces Queen Elizabeth II (95) when she has to cut back on her health and cemented her reputation as a personality of integrity with each of her public steps, which inevitably brought her closer to her place as Queen Catherine next to a future King William.
