The Centre for Health Protection stated that according to the whole genome sequencing analysis conducted by the Public Health Laboratory Service Division of the Department of Health, a 36-year-old Cathay Pacific cargo pilot (the 12513th case) was confirmed to have the Omicron variant virus. The centre has arranged about 10 close contacts. And the household contacts of about 10 close contacts went to the quarantine center for isolation, and no relevant confirmed cases have been recorded for the time being.

After the patient arrived in Hong Kong, he underwent medical surveillance in accordance with relevant exemption regulations. The samples taken by his compulsory test were positive for the diagnosis. He lives in Cheung Hing Building, Yau Ma Tei. People who live in the same building or work in the building in the relevant case need to receive 6 times Mandatory testing, the dates are December 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 28th, and January 4th.

The 12515th case was a 27-year-old man who arrived in Hong Kong from the Bahamas and the United States via flight SQ007 on December 15. He started to cough and lost his sense of smell the next day. He had received two doses of Coxing vaccine in Hong Kong in May and June. The antibody was detected in Hong Kong on October 18.

Both tested positive at the airport.

Together with the above three cases, Hong Kong has so far recorded 14 cases involving Omicron.
