The Israeli occupation’s open war on the Palestinian presence in the occupied city of Jerusalem, which continues almost daily, is represented by many arbitrary measures against the people. In addition to expanding settlements and establishing new ones, the occupation is trying to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homes in the heart of the city’s neighborhoods, especially the Old City and its surroundings, to change the demographic situation and Judaize it.

The National Office for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization clarified in its weekly report issued today on its website that the occupation authorities announced settlement plans that threaten to displace more than 900 Palestinian families from their homes in the neighborhoods of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which is located to the north of it.

The report pointed out that the occupation announced a plan to establish a settlement outpost in the Bab al-Amoud area, the main entrance to the Old City, threatening to demolish 800 homes in six neighborhoods in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The report indicated that the occupation handed notices to 45 Palestinian families in the western section of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and 13 families in its eastern section to vacate their homes and hand them over to settlers. It also displaced two families to establish a settlement outpost in the heart of the neighborhood.

The report stated that the occupation also announced a plan to establish 80 settlement units on Hebron Street, south of Jerusalem, and another to establish a settlement tunnel extending from the southern entrance to the city to a settlement built on Mount Hebron in the south, and from there to a settlement west of Bethlehem, indicating that this is part of the occupation’s plan to establish 3,790 settlement units. The report stated that the occupation seized 118 dunums of Palestinian lands in Yasuf village in Salfit and 11 dunums of lands of Shufa village in Tulkarm. It also bulldozed 3 dunums and uprooted 120 fruitful trees in Birin village in Hebron to expand settlement operations.

The report pointed out that the occupation forces demolished five houses in the Al-Tur neighborhood and the towns of Silwan and Jabal Al-Mukabber in occupied Jerusalem, two houses in the village of Duyuk Al-Tahta in the northern Jordan Valley, and an agricultural facility in the village of Susiya, south of Hebron. .

The report indicated that the settlers continue their attacks on the cities and towns of the West Bank under the protection of the occupation forces. They stormed the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and seized a plot of land and fenced it with barbed wire. They also smashed 13 cars in the streets of occupied Jerusalem. Deir Sharaf town, they cut the main road in front of the entrance to the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya and near the town of Hawara, and attacked Palestinians and their property in the village of Qaryut, the towns of Sebastia and Burqa, which led to the injury of a number of Palestinians and damage to their property.
