Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations between Syria and Iraq and the need to increase the volume of trade exchange to achieve common interests.

Minister Al-Khalil indicated during his meeting today with Chargé d'Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus Yassin Sharif Al-Hujaimi at the Ministry of Economy building, the need to simplify procedures at border crossings and reduce customs duties, which contributes to the smooth and sustainable export of Syrian goods to Iraq.

For his part, Al-Hujaimi stressed the need to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries and enhance cooperation through the Iraqi-Syrian Joint Committee, noting the importance of Investment Law No. 18 in encouraging investment and Arab investors and the role of the private sector in both countries in stimulating trade and enhancing economic cooperation.

The two sides discussed the role entrusted to the Iraqi Commercial Attaché in Syria in consolidating bilateral relations and creating trade opportunities between the two countries, and stressed the importance of holding an exhibition “Made in Syria” in Iraq on the twenty-sixth of this month, with the participation of more than 170 commercial and industrial companies, as it constitutes an important opportunity to meet Syrian and Iraqi businessmen. .
