On the polling day of the Legislative Council election today (19th), a case occurred in Tuen Mun where members of the election campaign team were suspected of being intimidated and tortured to destroy their mobile phones.
At about 5 pm, a 60-year-old woman surnamed Xu, who belonged to the election team of candidates for direct elections in the Northwest New Territories of the Legislative Council, was arguing with a man suspected of having a road use problem while canvassing votes at Leung King Light Rail Station on Tin King Road, Tuen Mun. Someone suspected of threatening her.
Later, another 49-year-old woman surnamed Liang from the Electoral College came to learn about the incident and also reported that she was slapped with her mobile phone.
Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested a 28-year-old man surnamed Luo on suspicion of criminal intimidation and criminal damage. The case was handed over to the Crime Squad of Tuen Mun Police District for follow-up.
According to sources, at the time of the incident, a member of the candidate's election campaign team had argued with the hawker present, and suspected that the other party should remove the hawker's car, causing a conflict. In the case, Xu Fu reported to the police for handling.
The arrested man was taken back to the police station and is being detained for investigation.
