A difficult to identify body was found on Saturday afternoon at a beach in Marck (Pas-de-Calais), near Calais, the Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor's office said on Sunday, confirming information from the Voice North.

The prosecution did not have more details on the circumstances of the discovery on Sunday evening, nor any identification of the victim.

The state of the body does not allow it,
" Guirec Le Bras, the Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor, told AFP.
It is still too early to say whether or not this body is that of a migrant, according to the prosecutor.

Taking into account the state, one can suppose that it remained a long time in the water
", specified the prosecutor.
An investigation is underway to try to identify the body and establish the circumstances of the death.
Several migrants trying to cross the Channel to reach England have disappeared at sea in recent weeks.

On November 24, the sinking of a makeshift boat in the English Channel caused the death of 27 migrants.
One of the two survivors had counted 33 people on board at the start, suggesting the disappearance at sea of four other migrants.
On November 11, three migrants were reported missing off Calais after trying to cross the Channel on kayaks to England.
A body that had “
stayed in the water for a long time
” was discovered on December 10 off the coast of Calais.
An investigation had been opened to identify him.
