The ninth celebration of the National Day for Encouraging Reading reached its last stop through an event hosted by the Dummar Cultural Complex that included a series of activities aimed at encouraging children to love their language, reading and creativity.

The celebration, which was held by the Directorate of Child Culture in the Ministry of Culture under the title “My Book is My Window of Letter and Color,” honored during the day’s event the distinguished in the specialized workshop for children’s literature, in addition to honoring children with disabilities who won the short story competition. .

And the art among them oozes.” The three girls with disabilities who won the short story competition starred, where the girl Alma Shweiki sang Mrs. Fairuz’s song “Nessem Alina Al Hawa” and the child Hala Al-Boushi recited a poem about the beauty of the Arabic language, while the child Yasmine Kardali recited a poem in which she sang in Damascus.

With the aim of preserving the Syrian heritage in all its vocabulary and reviving its elements, the young Muhammad Khair Fayez Al-Kishh Al-Hakawati performed a story entitled “Uncle Momo.. and the Swallow.” The puppet theater under the supervision of Khoshnaf Zaza presented a scene about the role of reading in an era dominated by technology. Director of the Child Culture Directorate, Malak Yassin, explained that what distinguishes this year’s celebration is that it is a harvest of the product of the 2021 Encouraging Reading Project launched by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Regional Center for Early Childhood in the Ministry of Education in all governorates and the culmination of a specialized workshop for creative writing of children’s literature, especially early childhood under 8 years As a pioneering experiment that extended for five days in supporting the content provided to them, encouraging young people, and training a large number of authors and amateur writers who are interested in directing their literary production to children.

Adult short story writer Samer Al-Refai pointed out that he learned in the workshop a new technique for writing children’s techniques in more than one axis, including lyric poetry, short stories and the “comics” scenario, which is one of the new literary genres, considering that writing for children bears responsibility because it addresses minds like white pages.

As for Alaa Abu Zarar, she expressed with great passion her happiness to participate in the Creative Writing Workshop for Early Childhood within a team of young people from different cultural backgrounds who formed a work cell through which they exchanged information and experiences and presented a set of theatrical texts and illustrated stories that will be issued successively in Osama and Shamma magazines, expressing her hope that they will be able to And her colleagues present literary products that are far from ideologies and wars because our children are intellectuals with a keen thought and broad imagination.

It is noteworthy that the celebration included many cultural and artistic activities, seminars, painting and theater workshops in various governorates, with the aim of encouraging reading in early childhood.
