In a historic decision, Yitzhak Herzog decided today (Monday) to appoint a woman to the post of military secretary to the president.
According to the President's decision, Colonel v. Will be promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
Colonel N. will replace Brigadier General Ala Abu Rochen, who has been in this position for the past three years.
N. has served in the IDF for 22 years and has currently served as the intelligence officer of the Central Command for about a year and a half.
Among other things, she has held a number of command and field positions at the Intelligence Division over the years.
40 years old, resident of the center of the country, married and mother of two children, with degrees in the history of the Middle East.

Herzog noted that "glass ceilings shatter every day in Israel, and I am proud that during my tenure at the President's House, another shattered by a promising and worthy officer.
Meanwhile, the IDF Spokesman announces the additional placements:
Colonel Elad Edri will be appointed commander of the Home Front Command's rescue and training division.
Lieutenant Colonel Natai Okashi will be appointed commander of the Negev Brigade (12th Brigade) and will be promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Lt. Col. Avshalom Dadon will be appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Southern Command and will be promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Lieutenant Colonel Adir Raines will be appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Central Command and will be promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Lieutenant Colonel Nir Weingold will be appointed head of the Planning, Economics and Systems Analysis Department at Mapat and will be promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Colonel Gidi Kfir El, Colonel Eitan Paz Mazursky, Colonel Yuval Yamin,
Colonel A. from the Navy and Colonel A from Mapat were agreed to study at the National Security College.
