The Salmonella bacterium is found in meatballs for cooking of the "Itzik the Great Meat Boutique" brand - this emerged today (Monday) from an inspection conducted by the Tel Aviv Health Bureau's food service.

Consumers who have purchased the product are asked not to consume it.

These are products sold in stores, not in a restaurant.

As part of the routine inspection, the bacterium was found in a product of meatballs for cooking, in a package containing 950 grams, expiration date February 7, 2022 and production date December 8, 2021. On behalf of "Itzik the Great with Boutique" it was stated that the company collects the product from marketing channels.

In healthy people, the salmonella bacterium can cause disease that manifests itself in fever, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

In rare cases, complications can occur.

In susceptible populations such as young children, with weakened immune systems and the elderly, the bacterium can cause serious illness and sometimes even death.

In October, the Ministry of Health announced the destruction of food products of the Nafis restaurant in the Herzliya branch, and the closure of the place until further notice.

This, after an audit by the Tel Aviv District Health Bureau in which food products were found whose origin and validity are unknown.

A statement from the Ministry of Health stated that during the audit, many sanitary defects and meat and egg products were found whose origin and validity are unknown.

At the direction of the district veterinarian of the Ministry of Health, about 224 kg of food products were destroyed.
