The darkness of Takfiri terrorism was not able to influence the cultural movement in Aleppo despite the damage caused to its scientific and literary platforms throughout the years of the war. Its intellectuals, writers and artists confronted the terrorist thought by insisting on continuing to revive seminars, lectures, literary festivals and art exhibitions, emphasizing their adherence to the civilization of their ancient city.

Although the cultural movement in the countryside of Aleppo was affected by the war, where terrorism destroyed 30 cultural centers out of 36, the institutions took it upon themselves to embrace creativity and preserve it. Which in turn includes 70,000 books, periodicals and magazines.

The Director of Culture indicates that with the liberation of Aleppo from terrorism, four cultural centers were rehabilitated in Deir Hafer and the National Library. The necessary equipment for the full re-launch of cultural activity.

And since 2019, according to al-Sajour, Aleppo has been named the capital of Syrian culture, and city centers have hosted many literary, theatrical and musical events and festivals, including early childhood workshops in cooperation with the Directorate of Education.

Seasons for cultural days were also held, which became a custom among the public, including cinematic films, art and plastic exhibitions, photography and a book supported by the Ministry of Culture and offered at nominal prices.

And because theater in Aleppo has many fans, it has witnessed in the past two years a remarkable activity through theater festivals for youth, monodrama performances, and youth, in addition to evenings about Abu Khalil al-Qabbani, founder of Syrian and Arab theater.

The Director of Culture affirms that there are great responsibilities to advance cultural work and to enhance cooperation and partnership with all official and civil authorities, including literary associations concerned with cultural affairs, and to raise the artistic and intellectual taste in society in general, pointing to the need to confront the intellectual war aimed at cutting the roots of the young generation with the history of its ancestors and its treasures. Nobility, heritage and originality.

SANA’s camera monitored the rehabilitation and restoration work within the building of the Directorate of Culture in the Sabaa Bahrat area, which was damaged by terrorism. Engineer Khaldoun Askif, head of the technical department in the directorate, talked about the restoration work, which includes the stone front facades, the removal of rubble, and the implementation of wood and electrical works, as the first contract was completed with a value of 75 million Syrian pounds.

Eskeif pointed out that preparations are underway to study the restoration of the theater, which can accommodate more than 600 people, the hall of honor and the back building within the second contract, with a value of about one billion Syrian pounds.
