Saxony-Anhalt closes clubs and discos from Thursday

In Saxony-Anhalt, further restrictions to contain the corona pandemic will come into force on Thursday.

The black-red-yellow state government decided on Monday to close clubs and discos.

"In addition, the districts and independent cities are authorized to impose further contact restrictions for vaccinated and convalescents in order to contain the pandemic," the State Chancellery announced on Monday.

Magdeburg - In addition, on December 31st and January 1st, the municipalities can impose a ban on people gathering in public places.

The change to the current state ordinance will come into force on Thursday and will initially apply until January 18th.

The state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt had determined the epidemic situation last week.

This is the basis for clubs and discos to close.

The set of rules could possibly be adjusted a second time this week.

In view of the high corona numbers and the new Omikron variant, the heads of government will be discussing stricter measures in a prime ministerial conference on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) wants to comment on the decisions.

In Saxony-Anhalt, the corona rules were tightened at the beginning of December - especially for unvaccinated people.

In retail, only vaccinated and convalescent people with appropriate proof are allowed.

There are exceptions to the 2G rule for businesses with daily needs.

In addition, contact restrictions apply to unvaccinated persons: Only people from one household are allowed to meet with up to two other people from another household.

The prime ministers also want to discuss contact restrictions for vaccinated people on Tuesday.
