The department of Charente has just adopted its first “gender” budget.
Elected last June, its new diverse left majority intends to measure the impact and effectiveness of its public spending in terms of gender equality.
“Contrary to the criticism of our detractors, we will not divide our 600 million euros budget in two.
But we are going to sift through all our expenses to correct discrimination, ”
assures Jean-François Dauré, Charente's first vice-president in charge of finance.
Access to public services, sports subsidies, integration policies or even space planning in colleges managed by the department: the Charente will use a parity analysis grid to monitor all of its decisions.

Appeared in Australia in 1984, copied mainly in the Anglo-Saxon world since, this
“gender-sensitive”

was, for the first time in France, implemented last March by the ecological city of Lyon.
