Fauci on omicron variant in winter: It's going to be tough 1:40
(CNN) -
The annual World Economic Forum in Davos, to be held in January, has been postponed due to "continuing uncertainty" about the omicron outbreak.
More than 2 million passengers went through security screening at airports for the third day in a row, despite the increase in covid-19 cases
“The current conditions of the pandemic make it extremely difficult to host a global meeting in person.
The preparations have been guided by expert advice and have benefited from the close collaboration of the Swiss government at all levels.
Despite the meeting's strict health protocols, Omicron's transmissibility and its impact on travel and mobility have necessitated the postponement, "the World Economic Forum (WEF) said in a statement.
WEF now plans to reschedule the event for the summer of 2022. Instead, it will be holding some digital events in January.
It will be the second consecutive year that a face-to-face event has not been held.
Davos was canceled in 2021 and remained virtually due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Will the constant mutation of the coronavirus win to vaccines?
