The National House of Books Theater in Aleppo hosted a poetry-musical concert entitled “Poets from the East” with the aim of reviving ancient Arabic poetry in a contemporary way that is close to the current generation.
The ceremony, which was organized by the Directorate of Aleppo Culture and prepared and presented by the media and poet Marut Sofi, comes within the fifth anniversary of the liberation of the city of Aleppo from terrorism, coinciding with the International Day of the Arabic Language.
This concert is considered a new musical and poetic experience of its kind, according to Jaber Al-Sajour, Director of Culture, noting the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Directorate for all distinguished young experiences in order to advance art and thought, especially through the ancient cultural platforms on whose stage the greats of art, thought and literature and the great poets stood, and invited young people to follow their path.
The journalist and poet “Sofi” explained that the poems presented varied between Ghazaliyah, Al-Nadibi and Sufism by Arab poets from Antara, Al-Hallaj, Al-Mutanabi, Abu Al-Ala Al-Ma’ari, Ibn Al-Farid and others, in addition to poets of the modern era such as Al-Rasafi, Mahmoud Darwish, Nizar Qabbani and others.
Through this celebration, Marut sought to use a new method in presenting poems to the audience in a contemporary way, using the latest sound equipment, to make the audience feel the magic, elegance and high feeling of poetry.
