After a largely lonely Christmas 2020, more is allowed again this year.

Nevertheless, there are rules that you have to adhere to in Bavaria.

Here is an overview.

Munich - The festival is just around the corner.

It will be the second in Corona times.

But compared to last year, when there was still no vaccine and Bavaria was locked at home in a hard lockdown, this year is a little bit more possible.

Still, there are a few rules that you should stick to on Christmas Eve to ensure a healthy start to the New Year for all family members and friends.

Corona rules for the festival in Bavaria: MPK did not bring any changes

The Minister President's Conference, which was convened at short notice on Tuesday, December 21, as well as the Omikron variant lurking on the horizon have not changed the rules that apply in Bavaria at Christmas.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) emphasized again after the Bund-Laender Round that "in Bavaria almost all the measures that have been decided are being implemented".

But what exactly is the case on the holidays?

  • It is still mandatory to wear a mask - i.e. wearing an FFP2 mask - in many areas such as in public transport, at events or in restaurants when you are not seated.

  • Only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are allowed access to restaurants and hotels - i.e. 2G.

There is also a curfew in restaurants between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

This is suspended on New Year's Eve.

  • 3G continues to apply in public transport.

For events, visits to the fitness studio or other indoor offers, however, 2G applies.

A negative test must also be submitted for cultural or leisure events.

  • If you have to work at Christmas, the 3G rule at work still applies.

  • At meetings in public spaces, only one household may meet with two people from another household, if an unvaccinated person is present.

(Children up to twelve years and three months are excluded).

  • If only vaccinated and convalescent people meet for private celebrations, a maximum of 50 people are allowed inside.

Up to 200 people can take part in the outdoor area.

Contact restrictions for everyone after Christmas decided

However, the Corona summit did bring about an innovation for Bavaria.

From December 28th at the latest, a maximum of ten people are allowed to meet.

This applies to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

Children under the age of 14 are exempt from this rule.

For unvaccinated people, the above-mentioned rule with two households applies anyway.

From this point on, there are again contact restrictions for everyone.
