According to new figures, train traffic between Munich and Verona will increase significantly.

Residents from Trudering and Daglfing had objected to the forecast of the railway.

Munich - defeat for Deutsche Bahn: New forecasts by the EU on future train traffic between Munich and Verona after the opening of the Brenner Base Tunnel are almost exactly in line with the numbers of residents from Trudering and Daglfing.

The railway had always given different information.

Instead of the previously planned 142 freight trains, a total of 256 trains are to roll over this route through Munich in 2040 - a good 80 percent more than previously expected.

In addition, the group has apparently submitted old cards.

Rail traffic on the route will increase tremendously in the coming decades

Now it is official: The numbers that Deutsche Bahn (DB) has used so far in its expansion plans for the north of the Brenner in the east of Munich are wrong. A cross-border study on the volume of train traffic in the Brenner corridor Munich - Verona has confirmed the fears of the residents. Rail traffic on the route will increase tremendously in the coming decades. In freight transport, "increases in transport volumes of between 53 percent and 95 percent" are to be expected. For 2040, increases "of up to 215 percent" can be seen. The values come from the "BrennerCorridorPlatform" (BCP), a committee of the European Parliament and Council that includes representatives of the transport ministries of Italy, Austria and Germany as well as the associated railway companies.

The corridor studies were carried out because "for each project - whether north or south of the Brenner Base Tunnel - a different expected volume of rail traffic along the corridor" was communicated.

Now you finally have "solid and clearly justifiable results".

Trudering: Railway numbers are set far too low, so the criticism

The residents' initiative for the "Truderinger / Daglfinger curve and spange" (TDKS) had objected to the train forecast of the railway from the beginning. The numbers are set far too low, so the criticism. The residents underpinned this allegation with statements from the railway about the volume of traffic during the spatial planning procedure in the Inn Valley and with figures from a study that the railway itself had commissioned. The other side, on the other hand, referred to the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan for 2030, which included significantly lower numbers of trains.

But the BCP now agrees with the residents.

For the Trudering site alone, the number of freight trains is expected to increase from the previously planned 142 to 256 trains in 2040.

If you add the future long-distance passenger traffic, local and regional traffic, this results in 428 trains on the Munich - Rosenheim section.

"The study confirms that our calculations of the train volumes were consistent with the exception of four freight trains," said the spokesman for the citizens' initiative Peter Brück.

“Now it must be clear to everyone that the train forecasts made by DB Netz AG for the rail expansion in the east of Munich are no longer correct,” explains Markus Rinderspacher (SPD), Member of the Landtag from Truderingen, angrily.

The citizens' initiative has now uncovered another error on the part of the railway

He therefore calls on the new leadership in the Federal Ministry of Transport to make the realistic figures of the BCP "the basis for new plans with more effective emission, noise and vibration protection". Because the forecasts that are on the table at the beginning of a procedure are always relevant. "Update the federal traffic route plan - immediately!" Demands the Trudering-Riem district committee. No plan approval procedures based on incorrect numbers should be applied for.

The citizens' initiative has now uncovered another error on the part of the railway.

In the preliminary planning process, old city maps from before 2016 were apparently submitted.

Because the buildings in the Hüllgraben are missing, such as the Amazon logistics center and the Eisbach studios.

The residents fear that this could suggest to the decision-making bodies that there is sufficient compensation space here.

Strangely enough, the residential buildings on Thomas-Hauser-Strasse, in front of whose front door the freight trains will in future only pass a few meters away, cannot be seen on the maps.
