Selected among the 17 emblematic sites in danger, the painter's residence, in the 14th century, received a budget of € 300,000 by the Missi

The Jean-Lurçat house-workshop, an architectural gem located in the heart of the Montsouris district (14th century) will be able to benefit from a very useful facelift.

The painter's house was selected by the Heritage Mission, led by Stéphane Bern, which aims to save a hundred sites and departmental monuments in danger.

With 300,000 euros in aid intended for its renovation, the building will be able to regain its old charms, somewhat erased by time.

Caught between the many artists' houses of Villa Seurat, the former home of Jean Lurçat is a masterpiece of modernity, built in 1925 by his brother, the architect André Lurçat, an important member of the Modern Movement post-war period with Le Corbusier, Perret and Mallet-Stevens.

Listed as a Historic Monument since 1975, the house subsequently obtained the 20th Century Heritage label.

For some time, however, it has suffered worrying degradation.

An emblematic site which benefits from the maximum allocation

Built in concrete, the house is weakened at different levels and endangers the security of the place.

Elements of the facade are very degraded and generate risks of infiltration into the walls.

In 2016, the studio ceiling even collapsed.

It has since been restored.

For its 4th edition, the heritage mission, financed by the offer of scratch tickets offered by the Française des jeux, has mobilized a generous budget of 18.7 million euros.

An increase in endowment compared to last year.

The Jean Lurçat workshop house is one of the seven endangered sites selected in Île-de-France, but not all of them are equally equipped.

Considered to be an emblematic site, it therefore benefits from the maximum allocation.

This will make it possible to restore the artist's place of life and work to its initial state and, ultimately, to open it to the public.
