Almost 16,000 came together for the fundraising campaign for the German War Graves Commission in the Starnberg district.

A record breaking result.

District / Pöcking - The fundraising campaign for the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge came to an end with a top result for the Starnberg district.

The district citizens donated almost 16,000 euros, or 15,380.35 euros to be precise, to the house collection and in the cemeteries on All Saints' Day.

A record result, as the district manager of the Volksbund for Upper Bavaria, Benedikt Klima, noted.

Joy at the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge

The district chairman of the Volksbund, District Administrator Stefan Frey, presented Klima in the presence of the Bundeswehr senior officer in Pöcking, Brigadier Simon, and the officer for the district collection of the Bundeswehr, Sergeant Major Dieter Ladenburger, with the five-digit check.

Klima thanked the Bundeswehr for the help.

"The willingness of the soldiers at the Pöcking location to support the work of the Volksbund is uninterrupted," he said happily.

"Despite Corona, the Bundeswehr Information Technology School, with over 100 volunteer soldiers, essentially carried out the house and cemetery collections and achieved the best result in the past ten years."

District Administrator Stefan Frey: "Proud of the donors"

Brigadier General Simon was proud to be able to live and serve in such a down-to-earth region in Bavaria and that his soldiers are perceived to be so open and friendly in their voluntary support.

"The volunteer soldiers deployed reported that there were very often interesting and constructive discussions about the history of Germany and the work of the Volksbund," he said at the photo session in the district office.

District Administrator Stefan Frey is also proud: “Proud of the donors who support the valuable commemorative work of the Volksbund war graves welfare organization.

But also proud of the efforts of the soldiers, without whom such a result would not have come about.

A proof of the solidarity of the Bundeswehr with our region. “
