US official: "We are concerned about the progress of the Iranian nuclear program, time is running out"
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will arrive in Israel today amid concerns over the progress of the Iranian nuclear program.
A senior US official said that in light of the rapid pace at which the nuclear program is progressing, there is not much time left for negotiations on a return to the nuclear agreement. "We will talk to Israel about what is going to happen in the coming weeks."

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will arrive in Israel today (Tuesday) to discuss the continuation of nuclear talks with Iran.
This is against the background of senior government officials' fears about the pace of progress of the Iranian nuclear program and the possibility that the Biden administration will strive for an interim agreement with the Iranians.
Such an agreement would include a freeze on Iran's uranium enrichment to 60 percent, in exchange for some relief from sanctions against them.
Israeli officials claim that this will provide tens of billions of dollars to the Iranians, but that their nuclear program will not be rolled back.
"Iran will be high on the agenda of Sullivan's talks in Israel. We are concerned about the progress of the Iranian nuclear program. Time is running out," a senior US official said.
"We will talk to Israel about what is going to happen in the coming weeks."
Sullivan will land in Israel this afternoon, and in the evening he will meet President Yitzhak Herzog.
Tomorrow he will meet with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett / Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
In addition, Sullivan and his team will attend the fourth conference of the Israeli-American Strategic Forum on Iran.
The Israeli team for talks will be headed by the National Security Adviser, Eyal Hulta.
Sullivan is also expected to visit Ramallah and meet there with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

In the negotiations that took place this month, the Iranian team presented extreme positions and raised new demands beyond the draft agreement already reached between the parties in June this year, before the Iranian presidential election. In talks, the Iranians withdrew some of their demands
Iran's chief negotiator Ali Baghri informed the heads of the other delegations about a week ago of the decision to return to Tehran for consultations with the Iranian leadership. "Together with our partners from Russia, China and the US we were ready to continue talks," European diplomats said.
“This negotiation is becoming more and more urgent.
We hope that Iran will return to the negotiating table soon and take a constructive approach so that we can move forward more quickly. "
