On the occasion of the Arab Day for Children with Disabilities, the Directorates of Child Culture in the Ministry of Culture and Suwayda Culture held a celebration at the Palace of Culture in the city entitled “We are half the face of the moon.”
The celebration, which was attended by about 50 children, included a dance performance by the Scheherazade Troupe for Performing Arts, several theatrical performances for students of the Institute of Special Education for Hearing Impairment, Basmat Amal Institute, the Joy Center for Down Syndrome, and a musical performance for blind students.
During the celebration, he honored the winning children from As-Suwayda at the republic level in the drawing competition "My Will is My Strength", which was held by the Child Culture Directorate in the Ministry of Culture during the last period.
On the sidelines of the celebration, an art exhibition of ten children with disabilities was opened, which included about 15 small paintings painted in pastel and watercolor colors, dealing with topics related to nature and cartoons.
In a speech, the Child Culture Coordinator in the Directorate of Culture, Diala Al-Mulhim, indicated that the celebration aims to increase family and social awareness, official and private, in dealing with the segment of people with disabilities, in a way that enhances their integration in various sectors, their confidence in themselves and their abilities.
The exhibition's supervisor, Ola Maarouf, spoke in a statement to SANA reporter about the need to encourage and motivate artistic talents with disabilities and work to develop them for the better.
Hazar Abu Fakher, a sign language trainer at the Institute of Special Education for Hearing Impairment, indicated that coordination has been made with one of the directors to train students at the institute to present a theatrical paragraph based on body language, sign and gestures.
