The duo exhibition of plastic artist Issam Darwish and sculptor Rania Maasrani formed a state of harmony in an artistic atmosphere in which the visual vision between painting and sculpture was integrated.

The exhibition, which was hosted by Ishtar Hall as part of festive activities during the days of Syrian plastic art, included 40 works, including 25 sculptures by artist Rania from different stages of her experience.

Maasrani also presented works that embody what the Syrians went through during the years of the war, where we see crowds riding a raft wandering in the sea, with frightened faces waiting for their fate, in addition to works representing men dancing the Mawlawiya in various situations.

As for the artist Darwish, he presented paintings with a variety of techniques from different stages of his long plastic experience, which can be divided into two groups. The first belongs to the pre-war period and includes paintings using drip technique, depicting scenes from nature and from inside the rooms that carried existential questions about relationships and scenes of love and waiting.

As for the post-war collection, the shocked expressions of people emerge, works that the artist called “Contemporary Arab Faces” depicting the extent of astonishment, frustration, fear, sadness, denunciation and disbelief at the scourge that is happening in front of them.

Concerning the exhibition and the celebration, the artist Darwish said in a statement to SANA: “The Syrian Plastic Art Days event has become an annual tradition, especially since it is held this year under the title 10,000, which is the age of the oldest artefact discovered in Syria, which represents the face of a human being from whom artist Abdel Nasser Wannous took the idea of designing the celebration. “.

Darwish explained that the celebration includes art exhibitions in all public and private galleries across Syria, competitions in painting, sculpture, advertising posters, and seminars on various topics on plastic art, while honoring artists with important artistic achievements, both living and deceased.

He concluded by saying: "The presence of this annual festive activity is a valuable illumination about the increasingly glamorous level of Syrian plastic art in its luminous journey that overcame the difficulties and tragedies that befell Syria and proved the creative power of Syrian art and artists."

This exhibition will continue until the 30th of December.
