7.45 p.m.:

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) commented on the results of the Bund-Länder-Round in a detailed interview with the BR. Söder spoke about ...

... his conclusion on the MPK:

“It is positive that we are all pulling together.

But the truth is that we at Omikron are still pretty much in the dark.

What is happening right now and what is coming.

We just know that it is far more contagious.

We know that boosted people have a high level of protection, at least against a serious illness.

Unvaccinated people are particularly hard hit.

In this respect, what we decided today is a step in the right direction.

In Bavaria, this changes almost nothing, or at least very little.

We already have almost all of these measures in Bavaria.

We have worked very hard over the past few weeks.

That is why the numbers are developing very positively with us. "

Corona strategy in Bavaria: broadside from Markus Söder against Lauterbach Ministry and RKI

... the sudden advance of the RKI:

“It was very strange indeed. You also have to know that the RKI is an authority of the Federal Ministry of Health. At least they have the supervision. It would be the same if the Bavarian State Office for Health proposed something completely different from the Bavarian Minister of Health. That was very astonishing. (...) We were then informed that the RKI was actually involved in the expert opinion. (...) There was initially confusion and surprise in the group. We had agreed on a text. And we thought that would make sense. (...) That’s why we’ve been annoyed today, yes, you could say. Because we, as Prime Minister, read about it in the press when we were consulting. We didn't have the opinion at all. (...) It would have made sense not to have to read ticker messages. So today was very, very unfortunate. That doesn't change anything about the resolutions. "

... about the traffic light government in crisis management:

“I am convinced that everything the federal government is doing is a bit bumpy. The Chancellor was clearly trying to involve and integrate. Which should be noted positively. But it has been going back and forth for the last few days as far as the legal measures are concerned. Basically we need to restore the epidemic situation in order to be able to react broadly in case of doubt. Many other countries can't do it like Bavaria because they didn't do it in time. "

... on the reasons why there is no lockdown:

“Many citizens are not only insecure, but actually tired and annoyed.

And so what we do has to be appropriate.

With falling numbers in Bavaria, a complete lockdown this week would have been simply inappropriate and not fair.

Because Omikron is there, but not to the extent that the increasing numbers are concerned. "

Corona rules in Bavaria: Markus Söder leaves measures for schools open after Christmas holidays

... about Omikron

: “We need more knowledge about: How difficult are the gradients?

In particular, are children and young people affected?

What about the many who have recovered?

Do they also have to be boosted? "

... whether those who have recovered also need to be boosted - and when

: “I asked about this during the entire MPK.

There was no final answer.

It just said: work on it.

We need reliable statements in order to be able to plan further vaccination campaigns. "

... the further vaccination campaign in the Free State:

“We in Bavaria are trying to keep everything open over the holidays and the vaccination centers will continue to operate at full capacity for the next few months.

On the one hand because of the boosters and then at some point the Omicron vaccine will continue to be inoculated. "

Corona rules in Bavaria: Olaf Scholz (SPD) announces "tough restrictions for unvaccinated people"

7:05 p.m.:

The press conference after the Bund-Länder-Round has started in Berlin. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) comments. The question is, he explains: "How should our country be prepared for the next impending corona wave?" Scholz demonstratively praises the expert advice that he introduced with the traffic light government.

“The number of infections is falling everywhere and across the board. (...) Our measures taken at the end of November are having an effect. We are slowly getting a grip on the fourth wave. But: Wave five is already looming, "says the Hanseatic and tells Omikron:" Even those who have been vaccinated twice and those who have recovered run the risk of being infected with this variant. Omikron will cause the number of infections to rise massively in the coming weeks. At best, it is a matter of a few weeks before the virus variant catches on with us. So the task now is to prepare for it. "

They now want to continue the vaccination campaign “unabated during the holidays.

We want to have boosted 30 million more citizens by the end of January.

The next interim goal I want to aim for is a vaccination rate of at least 80 percent, ”explains the new Chancellor of the Federal Republic.

Means: By the end of January, up to 60 million German citizens should be boosted.

And further?

According to Prime Minister Scholz, the following corona rules should apply throughout Germany by December 28 at the latest

:

  • Critical infrastructure operations:

Hospitals, fire brigades and police are to revise pandemic plans for core supplies "despite high sick leave".

  • Unvaccinated people

: "The tough restrictions for unvaccinated people remain in place," said Chancellor Scholz.

Citizens who have not been vaccinated against Corona may initially meet with a maximum of two people from another household.

Scholz makes it clear: "This also applies to the Christmas holidays."

  • Retail, cinemas and theaters

: the 2G or 2Gplus rule applies across the board (and continues to do so).

  • Private gatherings:

These are limited to a maximum of ten people, “this is especially true for New Year's Eve.

It's not the time for big parties, ”explains Scholz emphatically.

  • Clubs and discos:

These will be closed until further notice, throughout Germany.

This rule already applied in Bavaria before.

  • New Year's Eve:

No large gatherings are allowed in public spaces.

This is likely to relate in particular to the usual fireworks at New Year's.

The sale of fireworks will be banned (like last year).

  • Football Bundesliga

: No more spectators are allowed in the stadiums across Germany.

This was also already the case in professional football in the Free State.

  • Next Corona summit

: The country chiefs (MPK) will meet with the federal government again on January 7th, “to assess the situation,” said Scholz.

Corona strategy in Bavaria: Markus Söder (CSU) in the federal-state round in attack mode

6.30 p.m.:

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is unchecked in attack mode around the Bund-Länder-Round.

Also in the Corona summit, the Bavarian head of government is apparently continuing the motto "attack".

As the

picture

reports, the Franconian now took on the FDP.

The focus of the dispute is the attitude towards a possible general vaccination requirement.

Söder accused the Liberals, their Vice Wolfgang Kubicki was against compulsory vaccination.

To classify: Kubicki is not part of the deliberations between the state leaders and the new federal government. "How is the traffic light positioned?", Söder is quoted as saying.

He asked: “Why does the traffic light not present a schedule?

We need to be vaccinated! "

The new Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) replied: "I represent the Justice Ministry here and not the MP Kubicki." FDP boss and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner even moderated Söder.

“Paying attention to the choice of words is always recommended,” Linder is

said to have said

according to the

picture

: “For example, even when prime ministers talk about wanting to tighten the reins.

That is not respectful of the sovereign, the citizens. "

Corona pandemic in Bavaria: Markus Söder (CSU) hands out unchecked against the traffic light government

5:25 p.m.:

Which corona rules come around Christmas and New Year's Eve for Germany?

Comprehensive or as a patchwork quilt?

The federal-state consultations are currently underway.

Meanwhile, however, one thing is clear: Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has completely focused on the traffic light federal government made up of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

Shortly before the Corona summit, the Franconian repeated his demand from the press conference at noon with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD): “Above all, the federal government must determine the epidemic emergency.

That was a cardinal error of the traffic light, ”wrote Söder on Twitter.

The Bavarian head of government also demanded: “We need the entire kit to contain the corona.

The traffic light must quickly ensure vaccine supply, the integration of new vaccines and the introduction of mandatory vaccinations. ”The 54-year-old had already given out at the PK in Munich against the new government coalition in the federal government.

Coronavirus pandemic in Bavaria: crackdown on "Corona walks" in Deggendorf

5.10 p.m.:

Also the focus away from the Bavarian State Chancellery in Munich to what is happening on site in the rural regions of Bavaria. Example Deggendorf. In this case, the district office has now ordered by means of a general order that "public gatherings in the open air in the Deggendorf district are from now on exclusively permissible in a fixed manner". The

Deggendorfer Zeitung

reports

.

This means that the so-called "Corona walks", during which opponents of the Covid measures violate the applicable rules in the pandemic, are de facto forbidden in the Lower Bavarian district.

On Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) tweeted with reference to the “Corona walks”: “The numbers in Bavaria are falling and the vaccination is going well.

The efforts are worth it.

Thank you for participating!

If 10,000 people demonstrate, but at the same time 50,000 people can be boosted in one day, it shows the democratic support in the population. "

Corona in Bavaria: Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) speaks of "wall" in the Omikron variant

4:50 p.m.:

How are the Corona rules in Bavaria going?

Of course, the focus is on Christmas three days before the festive season.

And: Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) appeased this lunchtime shortly before the federal-state consultations that are currently underway.

“We can look forward to Christmas with confidence.

There will be no restrictions at Christmas itself, ”said the Bavarian Prime Minister from Munich.

At the same time, the 54-year-old warned urgently of the expected spread of the Omikron variant: "It seems that this does not seem to be a wave, but a wall that is approaching Germany."

Apparently it doesn't seem to be a wave, but a wall.

Markus Söder (CSU) on the Omikron variant

Corona in Bavaria: Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) hands out against the traffic light government

3:50 p.m.:

The start of the federal-state meeting is eagerly awaited in Bavaria.

It should start around 4 p.m.

In any case, the chaos is already perfect.

The mood, especially from a Bavarian point of view, couldn't be less Christmassy.

The initial situation summarized:

  • Markus Söder spent the main part of today's Corona press conference criticizing traffic lights (read in detail below).

  • In addition, shortly after 12 noon, the RKI fired a catalog of demands via Twitter, which has it all.

“Maximum contact restrictions immediately” is a requirement.

    According to

    bild.de, curfews

are even included in a detailed position paper by the RKI.

And all while SPD Health Minister Karl Lauterbach speaks of a Christmas without additional restrictions.

  • Söder, who himself did not announce any new restrictions for Christmas Eve today, sharply criticized this contradicting communication "every hour" at the federal level and called for immediate clarification.

He'll probably get it at the summit.

So, especially from a Bavarian point of view, you can look forward to a really traditional MPK evening, as we know it from last winter, including the well-known verbal frontal attacks, punctures on the pictures and a completely unpredictable surprise package of new corona rules, including restrictions during the holidays.

Corona in Bavaria: Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) explains his strategy

1:23 p.m.:

We summarize the Corona strategy drawn up by Markus Söder - mind you before the Corona Gifpfel:

  • No additional restrictions for Christmas in Bavaria.

    (As of 1 p.m.)

  • Söder does not expect any additional tightening by the MPK until December 28th.

Thereafter, contact restrictions and stricter measures for New Year's Eve are to threaten.

  • Söder is "extremely irritated" about the RKI tweet, which was published shortly before the PK and in which the authority demands, among other things, "maximum contact restrictions immediately".

    (

    See update 1:02 p.m.

    ).

  • The test strategy in day care is being extended.

The state government is extending the funding of PCR pool tests until the end of the daycare year on August 31, 2022.

1:15 p.m.:

To the schools: There are no extended Christmas holidays, says Söder.

They rely on vaccinations and boosters for children and adolescents.

The press conference is over.

Allegedly the last press conference from the State Chancellery.

That will still be shown.

1:05 p.m.:

What will change for Bavaria as a result of the MPK resolutions?

According to Söder and his current status: currently nothing.

Ghost games, closed clubs etc. "we already have".

Apart from possible contact restrictions from December 28th.

It is assumed, however, that nothing so serious will be decided that would justify a new cabinet meeting or a meeting of the state parliament.

"We do it on the fly."

Corona in Bavaria: Markus Söder (CSU) on RKI tweet - "I am extremely irritated"

1:02 p.m.:

Now come the questions. Christmas without restrictions, at the same time the RKI says there must be contact restrictions immediately. How does that fit together? Söder refers to the federal government. Health Minister Lauterbach and RKI must first come to an agreement. But that would contradict each other completely. "I am extremely irritated." Söder demands clarification at the federal level. Söder finds the RKI statement as a signal "extremely unhappy shortly before such a meeting". What is meant is the Corona summit between the federal and state governments from 4 p.m. “The Federal Minister of Health said on Sunday: Christmas is not a problem. On Monday there will be a draft resolution for bans on contact on New Year's Eve. Today the RKI says: now immediately. Who speaks for whom? ”Söder wonders.

12:58 p.m .:

"Omikron is here", Holetschek introduces his statement.

Not as massive as in other countries, but the variant has already arrived in Bavaria.

The Minister of Health emphasizes again the vaccination as the most important remedy against Omikron.

“It is important that the vaccine is available.” Holetschek is also already planning the Omikron booster in spring and wants to keep the vaccination centers open for this.

Aiwanger to threatening Omikron Variatne and supply bottlenecks: "No reason to panic"

12:52 p.m.:

And Economics Minister Aiwanger is now speaking too.

There will be new Corona aid for showmen who have been hit hard by the forbidden Christmas markets.

Regarding Omikron: They are working to ensure that Omikron does not paralyze the particularly critical infrastructures, especially the energy and food sectors.

“The situation is very serious.

We take Omikron very seriously.

But there is no need to panic.

The supply is assured. "

After the vaccination dispute in the election campaign: Söder gets along with Aiwanger again

12.49 p.m.:

Surprising: Söder assures that everything is fine again with his coalition partner, especially with his Vice Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger.

He is looking forward to working with him in 2022 and wishes Aiwanger all the best.

As is known, the two argued very publicly during the federal election campaign.

12.46 p.m.:

Söder changes fluently to a completely different topic.

The CSU boss wants an "inflation brake for Germany" and a new, uniform financial policy.

Söder wants to initiate a “financial stabilization law” nationwide through the Federal Council.

Söder demands for Omikron: reintroduce epidemic situation and make vaccination compulsory

12.44 p.m.:

Finally, Söder again refers to his demand for a mandatory vaccination in the direction of the traffic light government.

12.39 p.m.:

Omikron, on the other hand, is a different topic, a new challenge.

“The previous decision does not cover them.” In order to tackle Omikron, there is no need for a regional strategy, but a uniform national framework.

“The crucial thing is to restore the epidemic emergency.” Second, the supply of vaccines must be ensured.

Also what concerns a possible booster against Omikron.

"I am also in favor of keeping the vaccination centers open for the whole of the coming year." Furthermore, a clear statement is needed as to what concerns the boosting of those who have recovered.

Don't they really have to get vaccinated again?

12.36 p.m.:

Söder is there.

The press conference starts.

Söder is happy about the falling corona incidence in the Free State, “a very, very positive signal.

The measures have paid off.

There is a positive development in terms of management for Delta ”.

Hence the first good news from the Prime Minister: "There will be no restrictions at Christmas."

12.25 p.m.:

The live switch from the State Chancellery is already there.

The journalists are seated.

Söder should speak shortly.

12.14 p.m.:

Markus Söder wants to appear in front of the press with the results of the Corona cabinet meeting in a good quarter of an hour. It is eagerly awaited whether the Bavarian Prime Minister will stick to his line of rhetorically upgrading, but not to impose stricter measures than those decided nationwide. The prime ministers and the federal government will only meet at 4 p.m. for their now famous Corona MPK to agree on a nationwide strategy against the Omikron variant.

11.40 a.m

.: According to the current status, the press conference with Markus Söder on the corona situation and other measures in Bavaria will start punctually at 12.30 p.m.

According to the State Chancellery, Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) and Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) will also take part.

10:57 a.m.:

Söder will presumably give a clear direction for Bavaria at the press conference for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Only then do the Prime Ministers and the Federal Government meet for the Corona MPK.

10:46 a.m.:

The Bavarian cabinet is currently meeting to discuss the corona situation.

Markus Söder will then report to a press conference before the summit at 12.30 p.m., which you can follow live in video and ticker here.

Update from Tuesday, December 21st, 9.45am:

In addition to the repeated demand for a reintroduction of the pandemic situation by the federal government (see message from 7.46am), Söder demanded a clear timetable for mandatory vaccination in the ARD “Morgenmagazin” this morning : "We urgently need a quick signal that the vaccination is compulsory."

Corona summit: Holetschek warns against rashly excluding measures

Update from Tuesday, December 21, 8:46 a.m.:

Before the federal-state round on new corona requirements, Bavaria's Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek warned against refraining from certain tightening of measures from the outset. "At the moment, if you are honest, you can not exclude anything in the long run," said the CSU politician on Tuesday on Deutschlandfunk. "You have to keep everything open for the future."

Nobody knows what will happen to Germany with the dreaded Omikron wave.

"This virus has a great impact," said the chairman of the conference of health ministers.

"I think we have to make ourselves aware that it is still an epidemic emergency." Nevertheless, he does not believe in making reserve decisions.

It is always possible for the federal government and the states to meet at short notice and to advise on other instruments to contain the pandemic.

Ticker from Bavaria before Corona peak: Omikron has not yet arrived - incidence continues to fall

Update from Tuesday December 21, 7:35 a.m.:

The seven-day incidence in Bavaria has fallen again.

On Tuesday, according to information from the Robert Koch Institute early in the morning, it was 276.7.

The day before it was 285.2.

The city of Schweinfurt has the highest incidence with 493.3, the lowest incidence is the city of Erlangen with 128.1.

Despite the downward trend, stricter measures to contain the omicron variant of the corona virus are to be adopted today at the federal-state summit.

Before the Corona peak: Söder gives an interview in the morning and denounces “cardinal errors” in the traffic light

Prime Minister Markus Söder said on Monday that he would not “rush ahead” this time when it comes to deciding on new measures.

Many regulations that the federal and state governments provide for the period from December 28, according to a new draft resolution, are already in force in Bavaria.

These include closed discos and large events such as football games without spectators.

In view of the spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus, Söder demanded a renewed determination of the epidemic situation of national importance.

It was a "cardinal mistake" of the traffic light parties to let the epidemic situation run out, said Söder in the ARD "Morgenmagazin".

Corona virus in Bavaria: Söder gives an interview to the federal-state summit - and sharply criticizes the traffic light government

On Tuesday (December 21), the Bavarian cabinet will meet at 10 a.m. to discuss the current corona situation in the Free State.

The meeting will therefore take place before the federal-state summit in the afternoon.

At around 12.30 p.m., Markus Söder, Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger and Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek gave a press conference to provide information on the results of the consultations.

As always, you can follow the PK live here.

Should resolutions be passed at the federal-state meeting that go beyond the measures already in force in Bavaria, the Council of Ministers would have to meet again.
