After four years: Jexhof hosts give up

Four years ago, Renate and Günter Sirtl took over the catering in the Jexhof farm museum.
Now they have to give up - because of Corona and health problems.
Schöngeising - They open their restaurant for the last time on Boxing Day.
“We fought our way through,” says Renate Sirtl.
But now it just doesn't work anymore.
“At some point the account will be empty.” Because of the corona pandemic, the restaurant was closed for almost a whole year.
The district office has waived the lease.
“But the costs continue to run.” In addition, they had to hire someone to meet the requirements.
A new bar could be built in the barn.

But it would all have worked out somehow if Günter Sirtl hadn't gotten sick.
The 60-year-old was operated on on the meniscus and fell out for a long time.
Replacement had to be hired.
“We were no longer able to cope with the personnel costs,” says Renate Sirtl.
With a heavy heart, the landlords have made it through to ask the district office to cancel the lease.
After all, they had quite a few regulars.
Renate Sirtl will be working in the catering business again from January - in the kitchen of the Groebenzell Waldorf School.
Your husband is pausing a little longer.
New tenants have not yet been found, the district office explains when asked.
Landlords can still submit their applications until January 10th.
It is still unclear whether they will move into the premises that the Sirtls have left.
Because the museum development plan provides for the catering to be outsourced.
You could find accommodation in the old tractor barn.
Monument protection also has a say in this.
The room should be preserved.
After eliminating the catering counter, the museum entrance could be made more spacious.
