The pre-Christmas Corona summit is over.
The politicians are still reluctant to face tough restrictions.
Hopefully this is the right way to go.
Munich - Politicians have rarely made their Corona decisions easy, but perhaps they have never been as difficult as they are now. Of course, politicians have always had to live with the criticism of the two extremes - here the deniers, there the overcautious. But meanwhile the broad masses are proving to be pandemic-tired. You limited yourself, vaccinated and boosted yourself. And now you want to start everything all over again with Omikron? So close to Christmas? The consensus is gone. After two years of alarmism, all the warnings have worn off.
So the situation after the Prime Minister's Conference remains a little bizarre: The warnings of the Expert Council, which - unanimously - paints the bleakest scenarios up to the overloading of the "entire critical infrastructure of our country", find very little echo.
No politician currently wants to impose a hard lockdown like the one in the Netherlands.
But the resolutions of Tuesday (December 21), with (moderate) contact restrictions also for vaccinated people, may only be an intermediate step.
Because of the Corona variant Omikron: Lockdown can no longer be prevented?
Almost forgotten: For Bavaria, where a tougher lockdown level has long been in place with a regional incidence above 1000, there is even an automatic tightening.
Should Omikron really do so explosively, the lockdown will come anyway.

Yet it is not so far.
One can still hope a little: the fourth wave gave Germany a big kick.
It will be vaccinated and boosted for what it takes.
Mask requirements and restrictions apply.
Holidays are coming up.
Perhaps we are better prepared for the fifth wave than for the last and can at least limit difficult courses.
You will still be able to formulate wishes for Christmas.
