We are entering the second year in which the entire industry suffers from a shortage of chips, and all the players who wanted to get their hands on next generation consoles or reasonably priced new video cards are forced to either keep waiting for prices to drop, or compromise and pay, and unfortunately the situation is not going to change soon.
Intel Corporation CEO, giant computer systems maker
Pat Glasinger
, was recently interviewed by Nikki-Asia where he detailed a particularly pessimistic forecast that he believes the chip shortage will continue until 2023, and very soon it will reach the stage where it will affect not only the gaming industry, but On the automotive industry and other industries.

"The shortage of chips is significant, and it increased by about 5% even before the eruption of the corona, which disrupted supply chains. Demand exploded to 20% in the last year and disruptions in the supply chain created a huge gap." In order to meet demand, Intel has already announced that it will set up new plants in the US and Europe that will focus on manufacturing, but the CEO added "it will take time to set up these plants to meet the requirements."
Beyond the shortage of consoles and the high prices of those that do exist in the market, the shortage affects not only consumers but also large companies. Just recently Microsoft failed to get new Xbox Series X consoles for the Halo game Esports competition it organized, and had to let players play development kits that are usually used only by developers.
