The NFT phenomenon comes with its share of scams.
As these valuable digital assets, authenticated by blockchain, gain popularity, hackers and other fraudsters see them as a good way to rip off newbies.
The brand new Fractal marketplace, created by Justin Kan, the co-founder of the streaming service Twitch, has just had a bitter experience.
On December 21, hackers impersonated the company, hacking into the Discord accounts of some employees.

Thanks to this communication channel, they were able to send a false advertisement, on behalf of the company, to the group dedicated to Fractal, which has 100,000 users.

the post said. Faced with this apparently tempting offer, 373 people rushed to the link indicated in the message. They were all fooled, the URL provided was false and referred to a fraudulent site, Fractai instead of Fractal.
"The hacker siphoned off around 800 Solana cryptocurrency tokens, the equivalent of $ 150,000"
, confirmed the firm.
After a payment in cryptocurrency, it is impossible to go back.
Even if it does not have much to do with it, the Fractal platform will repair the damage:
"We plan to fully compensate the victims, we will need a few days to resolve this problem."
