A representative of the Russian state corporation Rostec denied US allegations about Moscow's violation of the rules of the World Trade Organization in implementing the policy of localization of industries.
And the Interfax news agency quoted the Russian representative as saying that "the real violation of the rules of the World Trade Organization is the Western sanctions ... which showed the readiness of the authorities of Western countries at any time to stop the supply of any product to Russia under any pretext."
He added, "This situation happened earlier with composite materials for a purely civilian project, which is the wings of an aircraft (MC21)," noting that "in 2018, supplies to Russia were cut in the hope of slowing down an aviation project and as a result we had to create, test and implement special materials us in the shortest possible time.”
The office of the United States Trade Representative, Catherine Taye, had previously considered that Russia's dispensation of imports and its transformation to develop local industries, products and services "consider a departure from the rules of the World Trade Organization."
