For the second day, the work of the seventeenth international meeting on Syria under the Astana formula continues in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, with meetings between the various participating delegations.

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Dr. Ayman Susan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, began its activities today with a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs.

Other delegations will hold bilateral and tripartite meetings to coordinate positions on the points on the meeting’s agenda, so that the final statement is drawn up, which is issued this morning and published online without holding a closing session of the meeting, taking into account the preventive measures taken to limit the spread of the Corona virus.

It is expected that individual press conferences will be held for the heads of some of the participating delegations after the publication of the final statement of the meeting.

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Susan held a meeting yesterday with the Russian delegation headed by the special envoy of the Russian President to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and a meeting with the United Nations delegation within the framework of the seventeenth meeting of the Astana format that opened in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan yesterday.
