The Iffeldorfer municipal council will deal with a possible further residential development on Faltergatter next year.

Traffic calming on the Hofmark and the old hospital will also be an issue.

Mayor Hans Lang (SPD) gave the outlook.

Iffeldorf - The municipality of Iffeldorf wants to venture into a controversial topic next year: the expansion of the residential area on the “Faltergatter” street to the south.

"We will enter into an intensive and very open discussion and into an assessment of the opportunities and risks of a development on Faltergatter II", announced the mayor of Iffeldorfer Hans Lang (SPD) in the annual closing meeting of the municipal council.

A corresponding attempt had already been made ten years ago.

At the time, this met with protests from residents, who feared that heavy rain would lead to increased flooding.

The high groundwater levels are seen as a problem.

Discussion about expanding the residential area at Faltergatter

The considerations for an expansion of the residential area were taken up in spring 2019. At that time it was said that the area south of the Faltergatters, which is already marked as a general residential area in the zoning plan, is estimated to be the size for ten to twelve residential buildings.

At that time, however, they wanted to wait with a development plan procedure until the "Iffeldorfer building land model" was revised - that happened this year.

Mayor Lang recently spoke at the town meeting of a new report in connection with the high groundwater levels in the Faltergatter area, which could be extended to Alpenstraße, Benediktenwandstraße, Herzogstandstraße and other streets.

Old hospital on the Alpenstrasse

In his outlook for 2022, Lang also mentioned the former hospital on Alpenstrasse, which the municipality received from the previous owner many decades ago and has since used it as a residential building with affordable rents.

It is time to talk intensively about the future of the old hospital, said the mayor, who has already asked about funding options in his own words.

Over three years ago there were considerations that Wohnbau Weilheim would join.

At that time there was talk of a demolition and a new building.

Traffic calming at the Hofmark, cycle paths to Seeshaupt and Penzberg

Another project that, according to Lang, is on the agenda for next year is a “traffic calming and safety increase” on the Hofmark in the village center, “radiating to Antdorfer Straße and Penzberger Straße”.

To this end, he had already declared at the town hall that cyclists had previously had a bad hand at Hofmark (“our living room”) with its school and community center.

According to him, there have been talks with an engineering company.

Speaking of the cycle path: For a cycle path connection to Seeshaupt you can now enter into the property negotiations, said the mayor.

"A tedious subject," he admitted.

There was already a meeting with the state building authority.

A cycle path to Penzberg is also on the agenda.

As reported, the connection to Antdorf was completed this year, with one exception.

“Acute need for action” in childcare

Childcare in Iffeldorf will also be a topic next year.

For this purpose, Lang announced a “requirement planning and requirement realization”.

There is "an urgent need for action," he said.

According to him, the municipal council's 2022 agenda also includes heavy rain management together with the Seeshaupt municipality, the redesign of the access to the parking lot on Jägergasse, the expansion of solar systems on municipal buildings and the further renovation of the sewer network.

"It's not getting any less," he said in view of the long list.

"We are asked to discuss all of this calmly and with a cool head."
