2,400 people demonstrated against corona measures and mandatory vaccination at the weekend in Regensburg - with all sorts of conspiracy whispers.

Regensburg - Saturday afternoon in Regensburg.

The entire cathedral square is closed.

Bars have been set up from the hat maker to the archway at the Alter Kornmarkt.

Police officers stand at the entrances and guide passers-by around the cordoned off area.

Around 2,400 people met here to demonstrate against the corona measures in general and a possible vaccination requirement * in particular.

As in so many other cities.

Regensburg: Demo against Corona measures - "I will remember your face and then I will flatten you"

Over the course of two hours, a wide variety of speakers have their say on a trailer that serves as a stage.

They warn of the allegedly deliberately disguised dangers of corona vaccinations (click here for the fact check *).

The media and politics are dubbed the real "virus".

A young man threatens a journalist: "I'll make a note of your face and then I'll flatten you."

Vague hints and unspecified theses about the "actual background" are formulated.

Even the end of Germany is predicted by a speaker who calls herself Alessa.

Most people would "do like sheep what they are told by politics".

“200 people in the Bundestag” would “determine over a billion people”.

If they are not stopped, “then there will soon be no more Germany”.

Demo in Regensburg against Corona measures: "Politics want to destroy all offspring"

Another speaker is Barbara.

The requirement to wear a mask is just one of many evils, reports the 65-year-old.

Children are tortured and mistreated.

“I don't know what the government is planning to do with us.” But you could think so.

“I don't speak out, I know what you want.” From the demonstration someone shouts: “Everyone knows that!”.

Later the same man will demand that Olaf Scholz and Karl Lauterbach be put “on the wall”.

“Our children are our successors and they want to destroy them too,” Barbara believes she knows.

Politicians want to "destroy all offspring".

So that “there is room for other people in this country”.

Her statements are strongly reminiscent of the conspiracy story of the "Great Exchange".

This story is particularly widespread in right-wing extremist circles, according to which the secret plan of an “elite” to replace and destroy the German people was behind the migration movements of recent years.

Barbara receives only scant applause for such hints.

But when she conjures up the common resistance against the corona policy and “for our freedom, our freedom of expression and our Germany” and shouts: “We fight for Germany”, loud cheers break out.

Demo in Regensburg: warnings about World War I and communism

Another speaker warns: “For most of the people here there will be a bad and bitter awakening, with a lot of hatred, many excuses and a long look the other way.” The majority of people “did not even begin to realize how much they manipulated became".

These are theses that have been heard again and again since the beginning of the protests: Politicians and the “elite” would manipulate and deceive.

The majority of the population, often referred to as "sleeping sheep", would not recognize this.

Meanwhile, demo signs warn of World War III and the emergence of communism.

Most of the rally participants are unvaccinated, as the raised hands show when asked from the stage.

Some even call for the vaccination campaign to be stopped immediately.

Demo against corona politics in Regensburg: speaker speaks of "totalitarian politics"

Sections of society are clearly threatened by the coronavirus *, says Florian K., who, according to his own statements, works “in the medical field”.

But among the children and the younger generations - apparently everyone under 50 is meant - there is no increased risk, according to the physiotherapist and homeopath.

Roland Wolff, Regensburg board member of the party Die Basis, has been in a "corona and democracy crisis" for 20 months. He speaks of a “totalitarian policy” that currently prevails. He has never been politically active before, he says later in an interview with our editorial team. Basically, he is more on the left. Wolff said he would never vote for the AfD. “They split too.” Wolff certainly admits that there are also people with strange views among the demonstrators. And that AfD city councilor Thomas Straub and some other functionaries from the Upper Palatinate are also on site, he can handle that. “Maybe I'm naive.”
