Who would have thought: A song that is 46 years old is currently becoming a hit.

The reason: a motorway closure in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Lüdenscheid - "Far, far, far it is to Lüdenscheid" is the name of a song from 1975. At that time, the Austrian hit star Jonny Hill sang about a love in the distance.

According to his own statement, however, he should not have had any success with it.

However, the 46-year-old hit is currently becoming a hit - and thus sweetening the long waiting time in traffic jams around the North Rhine-Westphalian city.

The autobahn blockade in Lüdenscheid makes the hit star make it big: the song becomes a hit after 46 years

As several media reports, many drivers are currently drowning in traffic chaos on the streets around Lüdenscheid. The reason for this is the closure of the Rahmede viaduct, which due to bridge damage sometimes only allows a snail's pace on the A45 between the Ruhr area and the Sauerland. It has even been permanently closed to trucks since mid-December. Now the hit from Hill is suddenly taking on a whole new meaning and for many commuters it is currently a perfect fit for their situation: for them, too, it is really far to Lüdenscheid at the moment.

The song has now been played over 50,000 times on YouTube (as of December 23).

And new and old fans enthusiastically speak up in the comment columns.

“The song is finally getting the attention it deserves,” writes one user, for example.

“So the time in a traffic jam is somehow more bearable,” says another troubled truck driver, who finds some consolation in the song on the tough drive.

"Number 1 hit in the Sauerland !!", confirms another fan. And interpreter Jonny Hill is even assumed to have prophetic talent: "He already knew about the closure of the bridge in Lüdenscheid at that time".

Hill showed empathy towards the “Lüdenscheider Nachrichten”: “Traffic jams are a nightmare everywhere.” All the better that his song now helps to make waiting more bearable.

According to Hill, it is important that people stay healthy and "do not tear each other apart, and even if they are stuck in traffic jams, do not start arguing".

Several users suggested inviting the musician to Lüdenscheid.

In an interview, the 81-year-old would accept an invitation or an engagement in the district town.
