A deadly fire broke out in a unit on the 20th floor of Kwai Chung Building, Kwai Fong Village, early morning (22nd) the day before yesterday. A 62-year-old woman with a surname Zhang fell into a coma. A dog also succumbed to death.
This (23rd) morning, the family of the deceased went to the Kwai Fong mortuary to admit the corpse. The deceased's sister and brother-in-law looked sad when they walked out of the mortuary, and the deceased's sister needed help to leave.
The incident occurred at 4 o'clock in the morning (22nd), a unit on the 20th floor of Kwai Chung Building, Kwai Fong Village, suddenly burst into flames. A large amount of smoke poured out of the street. Many residents reported that someone was trapped inside the unit and their lives were in danger. .
The firefighter arrived at the scene and opened the throat to fight the blaze and assisted the evacuation of about 200 residents to a safe location on the ground.
The 62-year-old surname of the deceased woman who died in the fire alarm was a large amount of debris in the unit involved.
Many residents awakened in their sleep in the early hours of the morning and escaped. After preliminary investigations, it was initially believed that there was a short circuit of wires at the site which caused a fire. However, after further investigation, it was believed that the cause of the fire was cigarette butts burning debris.
The Assistant Director of Fire Services Department Ho Jiaming said that during the operation that day, the firefighters deployed a jet, a breathing apparatus team, 13 fire trucks and two ambulances for a total of 59 people. The area of the fire was 6 meters by 4 meters, except for the discovery. In addition to the dead, a cat and a dog's body were also found at the scene.
