Damascus-SANA

The media and culture play an enlightening role in promoting the intellectual and cultural awareness of the people, and this is what, according to the writer Imad Al-Din Ibrahim, calls for concerted efforts between the intellectuals and the concerned institutions to achieve this integrative role.

Ibrahim believes in an interview with SANA that there is a state of decline in a number of fields of culture as a result of the consequences of the war on our homeland, which caused a cultural crisis at the level of society as a whole.

The writer Ibrahim, who writes in most literary genres and derives his material from reality, stops at what he calls a failure to exercise criticism on media platforms, where coverage is limited to presenting cultural activity or material without examining the aesthetics and negatives and pointing to the faults, if any.

Ibrahim points out what he describes as the noticeable decline in the reality of poetry in particular due to the entry of those who are not fluent in it and do not have the language, performances and music to it, which led to the emergence of texts characterized by dissonance, while possessing the corner of the poem’s systems requires extensive reading, deep memorization and education.

And whether the multiplicity of the writer’s creative output affects his quality, Ibrahim, who wrote a number of dramas for Damascus Radio, indicates that he finds himself in all literary genres because each of them highlights an aspect of his personality and delving into each literary genre benefits the media person in developing and enriching his experience.

The author of the anecdotal collection (The Repercussions of Rain Memory) affirms that he loves literature because it makes him live happily. Literature, writing and culture, in his opinion, are part of treating the human soul and helping him to understand reality and address its challenges, citing in this regard a saying by the French philosopher Tzvetan Todorov in which he said: “If I ever ask myself why I love Literature, the answer comes directly because it helps me live.”

Ibrahim finds that the best and most present literary genre is the television novel because of the technical development and ease of reception by the wide audience, and what supports it is that it derives its works often from the literary novel.

It is noteworthy that the writer Imad Al-Din Ibrahim has several books, including Al-Muttahid (The Shepherd of the Winds) poetry and Scheherazade's stories.
