The Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Marine Police carried out a joint operation against illegal fishing in Hong Kong waters north of Huangmaozhou last night (22nd).
At about 8:30, officers discovered a mainland fishing boat suspected of being immersed in its cage for illegal fishing activities, so they stopped the vessel for investigation and seized a number of fishing tools on board.
In the case, a mainland fisherman was charged for violating the Fisheries Protection Ordinance ("Ordinance") (Chapter 171). The case will appear in Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (24).
