The DWD has issued a storm warning for the southeastern parts of Bavaria.

There will be black ice there from this evening.

Drivers need to be extra careful.

Munich - In the northeast of Bavaria there will be heavy rainfall this evening (from 6 p.m.).

In addition, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of black ice in some regions in southeast Bavaria.

According to the DWD, the risk of freezing rain increases, especially in the lowlands.

Meteorologist Martin Jonas from the DWD speaks of a "storm risk" tonight and tomorrow Friday night.

The ice will soon melt from the west, but not until Friday morning in the valleys in the east.

The lows tonight are between minus two and plus four degrees.

Black ice risk: Freezing precipitation in northeast Bavaria

The sudden change in weather occurs because cold polar air and mild Atlantic air collide directly over Germany.

The resulting precipitation can also be expected in Bavaria.

The cold air ensures temperatures below zero, which increases the risk of black ice on the roads.

It can be particularly dangerous for drivers.
