The epidemic is losing control:

Despite the alarming situation, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has not called on residents to cancel plans for the Christmas holiday.
"We're not telling you not to travel. Last year's isolation was painful. Just be smart," she said.
She called for "spreading joy - not Corona - this holiday season."

Out of a total of 28,924 verified in the state yesterday, 17,221 of them were in New York City.
Following the situation, the city's public hospital system has announced that it will restrict visits and oblige those arriving with a vaccination permit or a negative test result.
Prisoner visits and receiving religious services were also restricted.
Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has decided to postpone his swearing-in ceremony, which was scheduled to take place on January 1st.
According to Adams, "It is clear that our city is facing a formidable opponent named Omicron. After consulting with public health experts, we have decided to postpone the ceremony."
