A paraglider instructor estimated that it was suspected that the wind speed and direction could cause the paraglider to fly out of control. In many cases, "the technique is almost impossible to control," causing tragedies.


The 74-year-old surnamed Li, who lived with his family in a unit in Kangfutai, Fortress Hill.

The incident occurred at 2 o'clock in the afternoon today. According to news, firefighters found the victim on a hill near Diwan Bay about 2 kilometers away from Longji. The victim was hung on a tree at the time and was unconscious when he was rescued.

A paraglider instructor pointed out that based on the estimation of the on-site environment, it is believed that the high wind caused the paraglider to lose control and cause an accident.

He also said that in terms of today's weather conditions, "more paraglider enthusiasts will go to Ma On Shan to play (paragliding), and the wind is weaker."

Zhao Haonan, safety director of the Hong Kong Paraglider Association, said that the scene of the incident, Shek O, is one of the designated locations for paragliding activities in Hong Kong. The association is learning about the incident, but it is initially known that the deceased was not a member of the association. The cause of the incident remains to be investigated.

On February 13, 2021, someone was paragliding in Tseung Kwan O but accidentally fell into the sea and fell to the sea 50 meters off the shore of Lohas Park.

Fortunately, the victim went ashore and left by himself.
