A doctor who served in a special unit and was destined to fight in Iraq during the Gulf War went through an endless mask of harassment that lasted 30 years, on the way to getting the help he needed • In the coming month he is expected to receive a summons for a hearing

A fighter in a special unit has been recognized as an IDF invalid, but is still not receiving proper medical treatment. To prevent the launch of Scud missiles into Israel.

The doctor, a father of four, was under tremendous pressure, believing he would not return.

For a long time he gave up the fighters intensive training, but further details about the planned operation did not arrive.

The pressure threshold intensified and intensified, and it was finally decided under pressure from the Americans to cancel the mission.

The heavy pressure left Dr. S. his mark, and after the war he contracted diabetes. As early as 1992, he demanded for the first time from the Ministry of Defense to recognize him as an IDF invalid, because the mental tensions leading up to the operation, which was of enormous risk, caused the outbreak. Diabetes, but the ministry rejected his request.

S. refused to give up, and again sued the Ministry of Defense.

In 2017, many years after the same operation that was canceled, the Ministry of Defense accepted the lawsuit.

But the turmoil was not over.

Four years have passed, and Dr. S. has not yet received the percentage of his disability and rights as an IDF invalid.

He waited and waited, his health deteriorating, and consciousness was not in sight.

The reason for the unacceptable delay is an appeal he filed in court that he was only partially recognized at the expense of military service, and only now has the verdict reached what he could have been referred to the Disability Percentage Commission.

In the coming month, Dr. S. is expected to receive a summons to the medical committee, and he hopes to end a 30-year saga of harassment, neglect and disregard, after it occurred as a result of one of the most daring, and most stressful operations planned in Israel.

Advocate Eli Saban, who has been accompanying Dr. S. for years, noted that he hopes the saga will end soon.

"This is a fighter in a paratroop battalion who filed a lawsuit more than 30 years ago and his lawsuit was rejected. Today, despite the long time that has passed, he was recognized as an IDF invalid only after the court ruled in his sentence that his illness worsened due to his service.

He will soon be summoned to a medical committee to determine his disability. "
