Former President Donald Trump rejected the skepticism of an interlocutor about the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine against covid-19 during a new interview, and assured that the "vaccine works" and that "people do not die when the receive ".
"Look, the results of the vaccine are very good. And if you get (covid-19), it occurs in a very mild way. People do not die when they receive the vaccine," he said in a conversation with Candace Owens, from The Daily Wire, which was published on Tuesday.

When Owens began raising questions about the vaccine's efficacy, Trump chimed in by saying, "Well, no, the vaccine works."
"Those who get very sick and need to be hospitalized are those who do not get vaccinated. But it is still their choice. And if you get vaccinated, you are protected," he said.
This is the most recent endorsement of Trump, who repeatedly rejected opportunities to urge Americans, and especially his supporters, more strongly about the importance of getting vaccinated.
Cases and hospitalizations are on the rise in the United States due to the delta and omicron variants.
But the reports largely indicate much milder effects for those vaccinated and who have received the booster dose, compared to those who are not.

Yet Trump has frequently politicized vaccine development and administration.
In fact, he told

in September that a booster shot was unlikely.
It was also inconsistent in promoting science-backed recommendations to slow the spread of the virus.
It even promoted unproven treatments for covid-19.
In the interview with Owens, Trump defended his administration's efforts to develop vaccines against covid-19.
"I came out with one vaccine, with three vaccines. They are all very, very good. I came out with three of them in less than nine months," he said.

Still, Trump called the children's mask-wearing orders in schools "a terrible thing."
"I do not like to see children with masks," he said in his interview with Owens.
"They are sitting at school, it is hard enough for them to be sitting at school."
During a recent event on his Dallas speaking tour, Trump revealed that he received his booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
A response that drew boos from a part of the audience that he ignored.

Last fall, Trump caught COVID-19 and suffered such a serious illness that he had to be hospitalized, treated with various medications and vitamins and supplemental oxygen.
As president, Trump rarely spoke about his own vaccination and declined to receive his doses publicly to help increase confidence in vaccination.
After he left the White House, it was reported that he and Melania Trump quietly received their COVID-19 vaccinations in January.
