Two thirds of French people are in favor of the vaccination pass

2021-12-23T16:37:56.287Z

SURVEY - On the eve of Christmas that the population would like "normal", the French validate the transformation of the health pass into a vaccination pass, wanted by the government.

In the future, a negative Covid test should no longer be sufficient to enter restaurants, bars and other places subject to the rules of the health pass.

Enough to put strong pressure on the 10% of unvaccinated, who would thus find themselves in "semi-confinement", being able to always walk outside and go to shopping centers.

While the deputies will examine, in early January, the bill providing for transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass, 66% of French people say they are in favor of this new device, according to an Odoxa poll, carried out with Backbone Consulting for Le Figaro, at the Christmas occasion (*).

Government firmness

A government firmness approved overwhelmingly, therefore.

Regardless of political opinions.

Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon have undertaken to revisit the vaccination pass if they were elected to the Presidency of the Republic, but their supporters do not follow them.

Those of France Insoumise are 65% to approve the project, while supporters of the Rassemblement are in favor of 59%.

The youngest, less vaccinated and more concerned with going out, are more reluctant (53% are in favor of those under 35, against 78% of those over 65. The lower professional social categories are also more nuanced (59 % approval), especially the workers (48% are against it).

New Years Eve without barrier gestures

While the government has finally given up on including in its project the obligation of the health pass in public and private companies, the French, for their part, are 64% in favor.

Results showing that with the approach of Christmas and the dawn of a new year, the population is ready to accept this new constraint, to continue to lead a somewhat “normal” life.

This year, the French will be more likely than last year to celebrate Christmas away from home (41%, or 7 points more than in 2020), and especially to meet in large numbers (23%, +13 points).

A quarter of them even plan to be over 10.

It also seems that Christmas Eve will not be held in strict compliance with barrier gestures.

Almost three quarters of citizens explain that they will not wear the mask (72%, or 10 points less than in 2020) and nearly 6 out of 10 (57%, -21 points) will not respect the rule of one meter distance between each person.

However, this Christmas 2021 will not be the same celebration as in the past.

Nearly one in two French people (48%) plan to meet with fewer people than during a usual Christmas.

An "intermediate" situation, testifying to the beginning of a return to normal life, despite the 5th wave in progress and the 6th wave, already to come.
